13-08-13 Highfield MUGA Open!!

Highfield is now run by the  Gregson Community Association. Local residents have worked to raise funds to redevelop the site and ensure disabled access. The council maintains the greens & hedges and is responsible for the pavilion structure. The management group running Highfield has to generate income to cover running costs. Thanks to everyone who has helped to get us from an open-meeting of neighbours at the Gregson in 2007 to see if we could get the abandoned site in use again , to our current state. Thank you also to all the funders.

3 areas: Bowling Greens, Tennis courts, and the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area)

The MUGA has a safety surface, is designed for 5 a side football, basketball, netball, tennis, other games and general recreation. The MUGA is now open for public use; however, priority is given to groups who wish to book the MUGA for organised times up to 25% of opening hours.

People use Highfield facilities at their own risk. The facilities are to be used for their intended purpose only. Appropriate clothing/footwear should be worn; NO STUDS. This is a no smoking area. Please do not bring alcohol on site without prior written permission. Please help us keep this site in good condition.

The tennis courts and bowling greens are restricted access to Highfield members. Membership fees have been kept deliberately low to encourage the use of the facilities (Individual -£20; family-£40 ; for parents and their children up to 16 years old. A £5 discount is available to Gregson members)  Highfield members will be given the entry code and booking website information.  Currently, facilities are basic; toilet access keys can only be organised for regular /club use. The management group have plans to install neighbour-friendly floodlighting and to renovate the pavilion. Teams or clubs may want to book the MUGA or other areas - £20 an hour. The management group encourages the creation of tennis, bowling, 5-aside, basketball, netball etc. teams or clubs who will use the facility regularly.
